Damper Replacement

Whether your current damper is warped, damaged, or rusted out; maybe it doesn’t open as far as it needs to. We are dedicated to find a solution for closing off your chimney, when you are not using it. There’s no need for you to sit and bear the smell or draft of your chimney being blown into your home, and if it’s not closing good enough, then the heat in your home is going to constantly be pulled out through your chimney.

This section is mostly targeted for customers that have masonry chimneys.

Masonry chimneys have dampers that are right above the fireplace, and are wide flaps that open roughly 4”, controlled by a handle. If your damper housing is not warped too bad, we can take your damper flap and do work on it, and restore it to working condition. However, if it is warped too far or rusted out, we will recommend cutting this flap out, and returning with a top mount damper.

Top Mount Dampers

For top mount dampers, they are installed at the very top of the flue, and underneath your cap. They work like a trapdoor, and have a chain attached to them, that drops all the way down to the firebox. These are quite affordable and are great for keeping out birds, and high wind blowing down the chimney. They also provide an air tight seal when closed which helps with your homes heating and cooling costs.
